We spent a quiet morning at our Air B & B. The patio and view are so nice that we enjoyed simply relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After lunch we drove to San Gimignano which is a medieval hilltop town surrounded by 13th Century walls.It has been a UNESCO site since 1990. This town was strategically located (ie a relay point for travellers going to and from Rome) and flourished. in this town, the wealthy liked to show their success by building a tower. At one time there were 72 of them (4 still remaining).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our drive was about 40 minutes and was very scenic. A typical Italian drive – lots of narrow roads, trouble locating parking and very small parking stalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The town – particularly it’s buildings, architecture and streets were interesting – fairly easy to imagine what life might have been like there in the 13th Century. Once again lots of shops to explore as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our trip is starting to wind down now. Tomorrow we drive close to Rome so we catch our flights home on the 5th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
