The morning was a holiday special. Following a leisurely 5 minute walk to the small nearby grocery to buy some fresh buns, we ate a light breakfast and headed out to explore a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The weather was perfect – sunny and warm but not too hot – for our stroll. It’s hard to remember that we are still in winter. The cafes are busy with people enjoying their favorite coffees and morning snacks. We have chosen a good time to visit as I am sure that the streets would be packed in the high season and I suspect it would be quite hot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We bought two lattes and an Americano and walked outside the old city walls towards the beach. There is a nice boardwalk (not sure if that is what you would call it when it is made of cobblestones) with a panoramic view of the coast, the beaches, the breakwater, the marina and part of the city. Looks like prime walking territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After strolling for a while on the boardwalk, we made our way to the beach. The beach where we were was carved out by rock formations into small sections. Sage was fun to watch as she played in the sand and as her and her dad raced into and out of the waves as they came up onto the sand. Sage was able to entertain herself and have a lot off fun with a shell and a used coffee cup (to form sandcastle towers – and then knock them down of course).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We stopped and ate the sandwiches we made beneath the walls of the old city. Another fun stroll through the old city took us back to the Air B&B for an afternoon nap (I only do it for Sage’s sake.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The afternoon was filled with another trip to the beach. Jesse, Laura and played in the edge of the surf (which looks to be quite strong) for some time. The three of them then built a sandcastle with hands and clamshell. While this was happening, Jasper and I people-watched and stared at the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After cleaning off the sand, we walked to a nearby restaurant and had some tasty empanadas (it only sounds like there a lot of eating taking place.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All in all a good day. CNN and all they chat about has been successfully removed with no withdrawal symptoms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
