Seville

Some fun facts about Sevilla (the Spanish, and I assume correct, spelling):

  • Taken by Julius Caesar in 43 B.C. and was under Roman rule and flourished for several hundred years – it was the birthplace of the emperors Trajan and Hadrian.
  • Later ruled by the Vandals and the Visigoths.
  • An important city under the Muslim reign from the 8th century to the 15th century.
  • it is world-renowned for its beautiful architecture, monuments, flamenco and tapas – with quaint neighborhoods, historic churches and palaces.
  • supposed to smell nice because of the blossoms on the plentiful orange trees
