Starting to plan my packing (which is different than actually packing) – a bit startled by a news story about wildfires in Chile. Apparently, a state of emergency was declared today because of wildfires in the Valparaiso area. Something that will have to be watched.

Happily, I am becoming more comfortable with WordPress and, by trial and error, learning how it works. I have spent quite a few hours now massaging the website. Maybe I had better start doing some actual preparation for my trip to Chile i.e. packing.

Yesterday, I spent hours (literally) trying to set up this website. The advertisements for WordPress make it sound like all the tools are available to make the task of creating a website easy. There are indeed lots of powerful tools available but, for someone who was born before 1950, those tools (and, to be honest,…

Setting up this website has been typical for my experiences with computers- hard to learn and lots of trial and error. It is still a work in progress.

Welcome to my experiment! For some time now, I have wanted to try blogging – in part, to play around with writing and journaling and, in part, to help me connect with friends and family. I am interested to see how this goes.
