Lagos – Day One – February 17th (I think – I’m starting to lose track of the calendar)

After arriving in Lagos, Jesse and Laura wanted to give Sage her nap. The effort to adjust the circadian rhythms of the kids to this new time zone is paying off and they are slowly getting back into their routines. I am still having to work on adjusting mine. In fact, Laura says that Jasper set a new record for uninterrupted sleep last night. I can still recall the sleep deprivation that Monica and I went through when our kids were small. So, I have lots of admiration for what Laura is going through with all the travel, routine changes and breastfeeding.

While Sage napped, I went on a search for some buns for a late lunch. The town looks to be a lot of fun with a relaxed, seaside vibe. I had fun poking around (and, happily, was able to find my way back). I had some trouble finding a bakery (but found an endless number of restaurants, bars and coffee shops – but could not see the words “low cal” or “fat-free anywhere). I eventually found a little grocery with nice veggies and fresh buns near or rental.

We enjoyed a nice snack on one of our decks in the sunshine. Our Air B&B is well-appointed and a bit unique. It is quite narrow (maybe 15 feet wide) but has 4 levels. The kitchen, dining area and living room are on the ground floor. There is a steep, winding staircase that takes you up. The second floor has a large bedroom, toilet and shower. Off this level at the back is a private outside deck with a table and chairs. The third level has another bedroom with twin beds, bathroom and shower. There is a balcony off this bedroom. You then go up to the roof where there are loungers if you want to sub bathe.

in the early evening we explored a bit, had a nice dinner and picked up groceries for breakfast tomorrow.

More to come tomorrow ….
