This video was taken by a novice videographer (Laura – which button makes it stop again?) in an attempt to show why I said the streets had a buzz. I was really surprised at how vibrant the street scene was and how people of all ages were enjoying themselves eating, drinking and just visiting.
Our afternoon was unstructured. We just wandered through the streets looking at the different shops and people watching. A couple of the streets reminded me of the high end shops on Robson Street but there were more of them and they were very busy. I am not sure if what we are seeing is representative of Seville or Spain (maybe we are just seeing tourists) but it looks prosperous. The people are fashionably dressed and spending money. Everyone seems to enjoy this lifestyle whether they are tourists or locals. One negative which I did notice is that smoking seems to be much more accepted (There are ashtrays in restaurants – at home, it has been years since I saw that.)
It won’t be a surprise – we wound up having tapas for dinner. In my defense, I mustered up the willpower to have a large avocado, tomato and onion salad on a bed of lettuce, arugula and endive. It filled me up nicely and helped me say ” no thanks” when Jesse and Laura stopped at the shop pictured below on the way back to our Air B & B.
