Minor Snafus

No trip goes precisely as planned. Our trip to Lisbon went well but there were a couple of minor hiccups.

The ticketing in Seattle went well. But in Amsterdam there was a difference of opinion between the Transfer Desk and the boarding gate. The latter wanted a boarding pass for Jasper (for whom it was not necessary to purchase a separate ticket because of her age) and the Transfer Desk said it was not needed. So, there was some delay while it was successfully sorted out. But I couldn’t help but feel that the people behind us in the boarding line were directing bad vibes towards that gaggle with all those carry-ons..

We got our car ok in Lisbon. It was a nice new Toyota hybrid crossover with a name that I can’t spell or pronounce. After loading everything in the car ( no small feat) and squeezing Laura between two car seats (given my size and maybe some deference for my seniority – or lack of agility,- I wasn’t an option – yea!), we were ready to drive off into Lisbon. Unfortunately, the car would not start (and believe me we tried pushing every button – even crossed my mind to try beseeching Siri or Alexa rather than the normal expletives). So after another re-load into another car and a breastfeed, we were off and,, once we figured out how to get out of the parkade, Google maps got us to our air bnb.
