Remember to thank Brandon for forcing you to wear his extra bicycle shorts after you, foolishly saying several times ” Don’t bother getting them – I’ll be ok.”
We rented bikes again today but today we rented eBikes. This was the first time that I had ever used one and I was a bit nervous. This was obvious to Marley and she was getting nervous about me being nervous. Paolo (the really personable owner of the bike shop) noticed this, leaned over and whispered in Marley’s ear “Remember, he taught you to ride.” (One for the old guys!)
It proved to be easy to learn to use the eBike. It made the riding very much easier and enabled us to go quite far without any problems. In the end, we rode about 27 kilometers. From the bike shop we followed a quiet backroad and bike paths and connected with the bike path on which we had ridden two days earlier. This path which goes up the Garda river goes through very pretty country and some small towns. The scenery is spectacular. The path is quite busy with both bikers and hikers but the ride was enjoyable because it was almost always off the roads.
On the way back, we stopped at the Bike Farm again for a relaxing lunch in the olive grove.
When we got back, Brandon volunteered to put Payton down for her nap. So. Marley and I used the remaining time to explore the town further using the bikes.
All of us went for a longish walk to the lakeshore and had dinner in a nice restaurant. We probably walked another 6 K to and from dinner.
Driving here, we listened to a podcast on how to get more “fun” in your life. The interviewee opined that there are 3 elements to fun: being in the flow (engrossed and losing track of time), feeling playful and “connection”. I think I checked all 3 boxes today.
